RAZR V3 still top-selling handset in America

No need to defog your spectacles, what you just read there in the headline is the truth. Astoundingly enough, Motorola's nearly archaic (in cellphone years, anyway) RAZR V3 is still the top-selling handset in the United States. Of course, it helps that it's highly subsidized on practically every carrier from coast to coast, but we're still a little stunned that it's selling this well nearly 2.5 years after Moto moved its 50 millionth unit. The rest of the top five isn't nearly as shocking, with Apple's iPhone snagging the silver, RIM's BlackBerry Curve grabbing the bronze, LG's Chocolate at number four and the BlackBerry Pearl at five. With the original RAZR still selling so well, one would think Motorola could just tweak it slightly and issue a second iteration for even more windfall profits. Er, wait.

RIM stood us up again! .. Bold delayed once again.

We've long since known that RIM's BlackBerry Bold was arriving at AT&T , but in case you haven't noticed, the rumored October 2nd release date has come and went, and there's not a Bold in site at any of AT&T's store shelves. According to RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, the handset is still undergoing testing at AT&T, suggesting that it wanted to avoid the complaints that arose when the newest iPhone hit in July. AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel remained mum on the subject when asked, only affirming that the handset would eventually be available this year.

The two inch square Space Cube computer packs a 300MHz NEC VR5701 processor, 64MB of RAM, a 1GB CompactFlash card, and a special version of Red Hat Linux, along with a single USB port, VGA out, built-in Ethernet and, most importantly for its target market, a SpaceWire port, which is used by the likes of NASA and the European Space Agency. Unfortunately for hobbyists that may have gotten their hopes up, while the price was initially estimated to be a reasonable $325, it now looks like it could be demanding upwards of £1,500 (or over $2,700) by the time it's officially released outside of Japan, although it seems like it will at least actually be sold to the general public.

T-Mobile is rolling out its 3G service on October 1 to 27 select cities. As far as those launch cities, here's a handy little list for you. It's entirely possible T-Mobile 3G is already live in your market, though, so don't let this confuse you too much. It could just mean you're next, or, at least by October 1.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

Sony Ericsson has now confirmed that the new Xperia X1 will ship with 256MB of SDRAM, in addition to 512MB of NAND Flash, and it's gotten specific about the device's battery life, which it says will clock in at 10 hours talk time using GSM or 6.5 hours using UMTS. That'll take a further dip to 3.1 hours if you're making video calls all the time, with 3.5 hours required to recharge the 1500 mAh lithium polymer battery once its drained. So word goin' around is that RIM is planning on selling their still unannounced BlackBerry KickStart for less than anyone would expect. The new Top Secret BlackBerry flip phone will be sold on the T-Mobile network and with a price like $49.99 (with 2 year contract) it might be hard to resist. Phone specs coming soon.

How To : iPhone Ringtones

Open Itunes, Click on your Library.

Right click on the music file you what your Ringtone to be .

Select Get Info.

Select Option.

Increase the volume to 100% and select the 30 seconds you would like for the ringtone. (the ringtone can only be up to 30 seconds long)

Click ok

Right click on the song and click on "convert Selection to AAC"

Right click on the 30 second version and click on "Show in Windows Explorer" (make sure your settings are not hiding the full file name)

The music file will be m4a extention, Change the m4a extention to m4r. (i.e. songname.m4r)

Delete 30 second version from itunes library(do not close windows explorer folder).

Windows explorer should still be open. Double click on the .m4r file and it should add the file to your Ringtone folder.

Now sync and enjoy!
